One Tree Hill Addiction

            I know that I have talked about Netflix before on a blog but at that time I didn’t ever use one. My sister uses her friends account so now we are able to watch Netflix whenever. My friend recently introduced me to the show, One Tree Hill. It started in 2002 and has been finished for a couple years now. I never thought I would love a show so much.

            I currently am on season two, episode sixteen. There is a total of nine seasons with about twenty-two episodes on each season. When I finished season one I didn’t think it was possible for the rest of the seasons to be so good, but I was way wrong and I like this season better than the first season. There is so many different things happening that keeps me interested at all times.

            I started this show during Spring Break so I had all the time in the world to watch it but now that we aren’t on Spring Break, I don’t get to watch it as much. If I get the chance to watch it, I watch maybe one episode a day. When during Spring Break, I watched three or four episodes a day. It was pretty amazing how I finished the first season in five days and I have been on season two for over three weeks. Sometimes I just want to blow off my homework so that I can watch an episode.

            The worst thing about watching only one episode a day is that after you finish that episode, it leaves you hanging on to what is going to happen next, so then you want/have to watch the next one. I have been trying to tell myself that I shouldn’t do that; I can only watch one at a time but that has failed a couple times.

            It is crazy to think that my friend was able to finish the entire show within three months. To finish a TV show that is nine seasons long with twenty episodes in each is straight up dedication. I remember her telling me she finished the first season in two or three days. I thought that I was doing good when I finished it in five days but when I heard how many days season one took her I took what I thought back.

            If you are ever looking for a good TV show to watch in your free time I would totally recommend One Tree Hill. It is filled with a ton of high school drama and a little bit of basketball. I have realized a lot from watching this show and I know that it really hasn’t even got to its best part. The more I watch it the more I love it.

Getting asked to Prom

            So it is the middle of April and prom is April 27^th. I technically still do not have a date. Yes I am a junior but I have a boyfriend that is a senior who hasn’t asked me yet. I keep receiving crap from my friends saying he is going to ask someone else or that he just won’t ask me at all and expect me to go with him. They are kidding about him asking someone else but they are serious about him just expecting me to go with him.

            Every girl wants to get asked to a dance in a fun and cool way, but when you have a significant other, does that still apply? I believe it does because most girls like to get asked in a cute way and then brag and show everyone about it. I haven’t been able to do that because I haven’t been asked in a cute way that everyone would be jealous about. I am starting to wonder if I will ever get asked in a way that everyone will talk about…probably not.

            I have been dating my boyfriend for almost three years now and I still expect to get asked in a cute way. Most people would say that if you are dating someone there is no need to ask them because it is expected you will go with them. I think that is kind of stupid because most people who aren’t dating someone still knows who they are going to go to the dance with, but they still ask in a cute way. Most of the time it isn’t a surprise when someone asks you because the two talk about going to the dance before.

            Also it is the best when people get asked to the dance by someone who thought of the idea on their own. When they steal an idea from a person who has done it before kind of ruins the whole “cute” thing. When someone thinks of their own thing to do, it really makes the person being asked feel special.

            All I am saying is I better get asked to prom within the next week. If it is prom week and I have not been asked I will be disappointed. While all the other girls are being asked to prom I am sitting there watching it all happen. Sometimes I want to say, “If you don’t ask me then I will go with someone else” just to see what he says...just kidding. But hopefully I am asked soon…

Class Outside

Class Outside

From my previous blogs, I said that I want the weather to be very nice. Well today is the day that the weather is warmer than forty degrees. I was so excited because this morning it was already forty degrees when I left for school. This was the best feeling; walking outside to warm weather instead of freezing weather. It is so weird how the weather changes from day to day.

Now that it is starting to become warmer outside, I don’t want to be inside at school. The fact that I have to sit inside a building all day and not be able to go outside and enjoy the weather melts my heart. Though, there are ways that we students could go outside at school. I always try to tell my teachers that doing school work outside would be way more enjoyable than doing it inside. Does any teacher listen to me when I say that? NOPE!

I believe that many students become very anxious at the end of the school year and all they want is summer and to be outside. If teachers were to create a lesson or activity that involves being outside, more and more students will be more content with having to attend school while it’s warm outside. If I were to go around the school and ask people if they would rather have class inside or outside when it’s warm, I bet you at least eighty percent of the people would say they would rather have class outside. Even though not many teachers are going to be reading this blog, we students can persuade our teachers to let us go outside.

Since the majority of people would rather be outside having class than inside, we would have more people to persuade the teachers. If the teachers say that it will not happen, try saying we will bring you treats... maybe that will work.

In need of warm weather

In need of warm weather

This warm weather and then cold weather is really starting to irritate me. Recently it has been really nice outside and then the next day it is super cold with high winds. The worst kind of weather is when it is so sunny outside but then when you take a step out of the doorway you are freezing. That kind of weather makes me want to punch the sun.

             I can honestly say that I check the weather app on my phone twice a day. Sometimes I am looking for what the degrees is currently and sometimes I am looking for what the weather is going to be like in the next week. I love seeing that the weather is going to be fifty plus degrees later on in the week. I think I mainly am doing this because I want it to be warm all the time instead of randomly.

I have all these spring and summer clothes that I want to wear but I can’t quite yet because it is too cold outside. It angers me because it is the beginning of April and should be spring not winter. As the days go on it does seem like it is becoming warmer, but not as warm as I would like. I just get annoyed when one day it is fifty plus degrees and then the next day it is low forties or high thirties. From here on out I think it should be at least fifty degrees.

           Since it has been so cold recently, all of the spring sport’s games have been postponed because it is too cold for people to be playing or the fields aren’t ready to be played on. If I were to be in a spring sport, I would be disappointed because technically the season isn’t starting till later because they aren’t being allowed to play until later. I know that the girls’ soccer team had their game against Muscatine postponed from Monday to Thursday. They also have a game Friday so they will be very warned out from those two games.

I would just really appreciate it if this weather would become a lot more enjoyable and relaxing fairly soon. Some people are wondering if winter is ever going to end and I am starting to think that too. Please be warmer by mid-April because I don’t want to keep wearing my winter clothes to school.

Iowa Assessments

Iowa Assessments

Every year students have to take the Iowa Assessments which were called ITEDS two years ago. I have been taking these tests since I was in third grade and I am extremely excited to be done with them. As a junior, it is my last year that I will ever have to take these Iowa Assessments. I am sure I will have to take tests like these later on in my life to get into certain classes for my major but I will never have to take the Iowa Assessments again. That sure is a great feeling to have after I have taken them for almost ten years.

When I was younger, I was always told that I had to do great on these tests because they would place me in a certain based on my results. But now that my classmates and I are older, they don’t really say that because the main reason for these tests is to make sure the school is doing their job by teaching us the correct material. Back when I was in elementary they would use the results to make sure that the school is doing what they should but also to see what level each student is at. Now they look for both, but mainly to compare other school’s results together.

Here at Kennedy we were told that our class of 2014 had the best results last year at the school. That tells a lot about my grade and how smart we are. I was really surprised to hear that because I thought the grade above us was the best. It really is kind of cool to hear that we are the best.

Last week, Dr. W came into our class and told us that this is the year that they have to send our results into the state. I thought that each and every grade was sent to the state but I guess not. I found this kind of annoying because last year we did so well and they didn’t even get sent to the state. This year if we don’t do as well, it will kind of suck because our best results weren’t sent in.

Many people on these tests don’t want to take them. Because of that many students want to just fill in random bubbles so they don’t have to read each question. I have always wanted to do that but then I really think about it and it is stupid to do that. If you just fill in random bubbles and get a terrible score, it could reflect on you later on. I know the main point of this test is reflected on the school but they do look at personal scores also.

I hate having to take the tests but I guess they need to be done. So everyone try your hardest and maybe you will be awarded with something later!

Barking Dog

Barking Dog

It hasn’t been warm this spring until yesterday when it was forty-five degrees out. It was really nice to go outside after school into warm weather. But when I got home I could tell that it was warm outside because my dog barked at very single dog that walked by. I seriously was about to smack his face so hard because I was extremely annoyed.

    I think the reason why I was so annoyed was because I was trying to study for the ACT and then every time he barked I would have to stop and get him to shut up. After trying to shut my dog up for a half hour I realized he probably wanted to go on a walk. I felt really bad because I wasn’t going to take him on a walk when I had a lot of work to do so I put him on the chain. That actually made it one hundred times worse because he was even closer to all the dogs. I ended up having to go get him because I bet all of the neighbors were extremely annoyed, just like I was.
