I think it is good that our school was
trying to practice a lock down in case we would have to, but really was it a
good enough “lock down”? I know the class room I was in, was not much of a lock
down. When we were told to go into “lock down” mode our teacher went to lock
the door. Also they sent an email to the administration regarding who was
absent from our class. That is all we did and then just sat in our desk.
If there was an actual suspicious person
in our school, I would hope we wouldn’t just sit in our desks in a locked room.
I mean don’t you think we should practice what we would do so that we know what
to do when it actually happens? Our teacher said we would go to one side of the
room away from the door so that if someone was there they wouldn’t see us. Too
be honest, I would rather get out of the school where the bad person is then be
stuck in there in danger.
I guess that isn’t a really good
plan to have over 1,800 students run outside of the school but staying inside
where the bad person is at just doesn’t seem right. At least if you have the
students run outside, they can get in their cars and go. It’s not like this
person can keep up with 1,800 students or so. If there are 20 students in a
class room and the bad person ends up getting inside of the classroom it will
be easier for them to kill all 20 when the students could have ran away and
most likely gotten out safe.
It is just crazy having to even
think about what we should do if something like this would happen. What has
this world come to? I don’t understand what these people are trying or wanting
to do. Never would I have thought that schools would have to come up with a
plan for when a suspicious person with a gun comes by. It does need to be done
though.
Seeing that the school is taking
some type of action toward this problem is awesome but we should probably figure
out what we would do for sure soon because you never know when it could happen.
It scares me to even think about it but there are creepy and messed up people out
there in this world.
