Brrr...

Brrr...

Wow it is freezing outside and I mean freezing. It hasn’t been this cold in a very long time. It is so weird because it was just 59 degrees a couple days ago and now we are in the negatives. Yesterday morning it was negative 5 degrees but it really felt like negative 20 degrees. That is beyond cold. We did get a two-hour delay, which was definitely needed but was it too cold to even go to school?
I remember a couple years ago, I believe I was in eighth grade and we had terribly bitter cold for more than one day. The actual temperature was negative 10 but it felt like negative 25. We were out of school for three days because of the cold weather. But really, yesterdays’ coldness was very similar to the temperature a couple years ago where we got out of school for it.
We did have a different super intendent a couple years ago when we got out of school for the cold weather, so maybe they think of cold differently. All I can say is that I haven’t had to wear gloves yet this year until yesterday morning when I was driving to school.
This cold weather is acutally very dangerous. The men on the news reported that if you were outside for just fifteen minutues without being properly covered you could get frost bite. That doesn’t seem right to only be outside for fifteen mintues and then possibly have to go to the doctor to get medicine for frost bite. That is why you need to make sure you dress properly when going outside in this cold weather. You especially need to wear a heavy coat that will keep you warm on top of gloves, hat, boots, exc.
There are two main types of hand warmers: gloves and mittens. I would have to say that mittens are harder to do things with than gloves are. When you wear mittens you technically only have one finger; your thumb. It is hard to accomplish things wearing mittens. If you are working outside and having to use your hands in the winter you need to wear gloves not mittens. Gloves allow you to grab and work with things a lot easier because you have all five of your fingers to use, instead of just one finger if you use mittens.
Take care of your body and hopefully you use my advice during this awful weather. Stay warm :)
